Sudan’s Foreign Minister Refutes Al-Burhan’s Rumoured Visit to Iran

Cairo – AlMohagig — Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, the acting Sudan Foreign Minister, denied the rumoured news that General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan the head of the Sovereignty Council, would be visiting Iran soon. Al-Sadiq told AlMohagig that there is no anticipated visit for Al-Burhan to Tehran.

On the other hand, a Sudanese diplomatic source told AlMohagig that there is no visit on Al-Burhan’s agenda to Iran soon, despite an official invitation from Tehran to the head of the Sovereignty Council to enhance relations between the two countries.

The source affirmed that Al-Burhan’s current foreign movements are linked to the regional countries contributing to solving the Sudanese crisis, pointing out that Al-Burhan’s visit to Tehran would mark the culmination of re-establishing relations between the two countries and setting a new strategic direction that Sudan will decide in due course.

It is worth mentioning that, as per agreements and communications between Sudan and Iran, diplomatic relations were resumed after an interruption of more than 8 years. The confirmation was made during the visit of a Sudanese delegation, led by the Foreign Minister, to Tehran last week, where they held discussions with senior Iranian officials, including the Foreign Minister and the President.
