Inauguration of New Bridge Cranes for the Sea Ports Authority

Transitional Sovereignty Council Member, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, and Lieutenant General, Marine Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, applauded the great role that the Sea Ports Authority continued to play in promoting and developing port work and its keenness to keep pace with global developments in foreign trade and the transport of goods in support of the national economy.

When addressing the inauguration ceremony of the arrival of bridge cranes from China, with pure funding from the Sea Ports Authority, in the presence of the Governor of the Red Sea State, a number of ministers and the Director General of the Authority, he expressed his thanks to the government and people of Sudan for the support provided by China through its companies operating in Sudan and their contribution to developing the performance of the Authority. Sea ports.

The Sovereignty Council member described the new bridge cranes as a real addition to keeping pace with global development and a qualitative leap in the operational performance of ports.

He gave good news to the partners working in the maritime field, the shipping lines operating in the Red Sea basin, the maritime navigation agencies, those working in the field of exports and imports, and the employers’ union, about the contribution of the achievement in facilitating the movement of transport and the economy, exports and imports, with a waiting rate of zero percent.

His Excellency prayed for mercy on the souls of the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity, and wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.

For his part, the Acting Minister of Transport, Engineer Abu Bakr Abu Al-Qasim, explained that these bridge cranes will contribute significantly to the development of ports, increasing the carrying capacity, and speeding up the process of loading and unloading loads in record time.

He stressed that his ministry and the employees of the Maritime Ports Authority are working to fill the gaps behind their armed forces and their leadership, despite the war and siege.

He revealed that a month from now there will be navigational communication between the river port of Halfa and the sea port of Port Sudan via the Halfa-Port Sudan railway line.

For his part, Director of the Sea Ports Authority, Captain Mohamed Hassan Mukhtar, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Authority’s employees for the appreciated efforts they made and for bearing the expenses of financing the import of cranes through their hard work.

Engineer Nader Muhammad Ahmed, Director of the General Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Authority, stated that these cranes and engineering equipment contain the latest technology in control, speed, safety performance, and the ability to deal with the latest types of containers, whose capacity exceeds 18,000 containers, and they have the ability to handle more than 22 containers, and the capacity of the cranes reaches more than 125 meters at rest, which enables it to handle the largest ships.
