Cairo – almohagig – Sabah Musa

The meetings of the Democratic Bloc are being held in Cairo from 5 to 9 May to discuss political and organisational issues within the bloc, with the presence of prominent leaders including Jaafar Al-Mirghani, the leader of the Original Democratic Unionist Party, Jibril Ibrahim, the leader of the Justice and Equality Movement, Mohammed Al-Amin Turki, the head of the Higher Council of Bijja, and Mani Arko Manawi, the head of the Sudan Liberation Movement.

Mubarak Ardol, a leader in the Democratic Bloc, told “Almahagig” that the first three days of the meetings will focus on internal issues of the Bloc, while the last days of the meeting will be dedicated to several political forces and alliances to form a larger civil front to support legitimate state institutions. He added that there will also be two press conferences, and an opening session for the meetings, stating that there are requests from forces to join the civil front to support legitimate state institutions, including the Sudanese Alliance led by Khamees Abkar, a splinter group from Al-Hadi Idris led by Salah Rassas, a splinter group from Al-Taher Hajir led by Salah Wali, as well as the Takhati group, and others.

Ardol reassured, “We will also discuss topics related to how to engage in dialogue with the Tagadum and Islamic groups, and we will take a specific stance towards them.” This strategic approach to engagement, along with the discussions on the organisational structure and the new name of the alliance, instils confidence in the audience about the thoroughness of our planning. He continued, “We will maintain our entities, and we will be a larger front and a wider alignment.”
