Transitional Sovereignty Council member and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabashi, headed to Juba on Friday morning on an official visit during which he is expected to hold official discussions with senior officials in the Republic of South Sudan, according to what was stated in a circular published by the media of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.

The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, visited Juba in early April, for the fourth time since the start of the war in Sudan, and discussed a number of issues, including how to resume pumping South Sudanese oil through Sudanese territory to the export port on the Red Sea.

Repeated press reports confirmed the participation of a number of South Sudanese citizens in the war taking place in Sudan, alongside the Rapid Support Militia. These reports indicated that most of these fighters belong to South Sudanese factions opposed to the government of President Salva Kiir, and that they work as mercenaries and are being recruited from within the Ethiopian territory.
