Acting Minister of Agriculture Emphasises the Importance of Expanding Agricultural Partnerships with Private Sector

The Acting Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bashir, affirmed the importance of expanding agricultural partnerships with the private sector according to a methodological and scientific approach. This would involve incorporating scientific research that increases crop productivity and achieves the desired development alongside the practical application of agricultural technologies.
The Sudanese Minister discussed the problems and obstacles hindering private sector participation in agricultural investment with the Director of the African Agricultural Company, Wajdi Mirghani.
This came during his meeting on Wednesday morning in Port Sudan with Wajdi Mirghani, the General Manager of the African Agricultural Company.
The meeting discussed the ministry’s preparations for the summer agricultural season and the African company’s preparations to engage in the agricultural process for the 2024 season.
The meeting also addressed the problems and challenges facing partnerships with the private sector. It began to explore possibilities for their resolution, acknowledging the significant role partnerships play in providing developmental and service aspects to society.
Al-Bashir emphasised that any project that does not achieve development or provide societal services must be fundamentally reviewed.
