The Vice Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Malik Agar affirmed Sudan’s keenness to strengthen, upgrade and develop bilateral relations with Russia in all fields, especially the strategic, political and economic fields.
During his meeting in St. Petersburg on Friday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the presence of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Minerals and the Sudanese Ambassador to Russia, he provided a full briefing on the situation in Sudan and developments in the theaters of military operations and the government’s vision regarding stabilizing the situation and establishing peace.
Agar expressed his hope for Russia’s support and assistance to Sudan in the reconstruction phase, noting that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a good opportunity for companies and economic institutions to work in Sudan.
He stressed Sudan’s readiness to activate the agreements and joint committees between the two countries, especially the Political Consultation Committee, the Joint Ministerial Committee and the Military Committee, to develop plans and programs and draw a clear roadmap to develop work to reach the stage of strategic partnership.
The Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council delivered a written message from the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who assigned his Foreign Minister to receive the message due to urgent reasons that prevented him from meeting the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council.
For his part, Lavrov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council for explaining the situation in Sudan and the developments on the ground. He confirmed the availability of political will on both sides to develop and upgrade relations in all fields in a way that achieves the common interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples.
