Sudan: More than 4 Million Sacks of Wheat Produced in Gezira State

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture announced that the Northern State’s wheat productivity for 2023-2024 amounted to 170 thousand tons or 1,695,000 bags. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, the targeted area of wheat in the Northern State was 152 thousand acres, and the cultivated area was 126 thousand acres of wheat.

The harvested areas amounted to 112,729 acres, and the average productivity per acre was 15 bags of 100 kilograms. While the targeted area of wheat in the White Nile State reached 120,000 acres, and the cultivated areas recorded 50,000 acres of wheat.

The harvested areas amounted to 37 acres, and the average productivity per acre was 13.1 sacks (100 kilograms). The total production in sacks reached 484,700 sacks, and the total production in tons reached 48,470 tons, but vast areas were flooded.

The total production of wheat in New Halfa in tons reached 28,546 tons, with an average productivity per acre of 7.8 sacks weighing 100 kilograms, and the total production in sacks was 285,466 sacks. The targeted area of wheat was 37,315 acres, while the cultivated areas recorded 36,598 acres of wheat and the harvested areas recorded 36.59 acres.

The Ministry of Agriculture said that the targeted area of wheat in the state of Al-Jazira was 450,000 acres, the cultivated areas were 320,000 acres of wheat, and the harvested areas were 310,000 acres, of which 215,000 were in the Managil area. The average productivity per acre was 7.13 sacks, and the total production was 4,123,700 sacks and the total production in tons was 412,370 tons.
