almohagig – Nazik Shamam

The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Ahlam Mehdi Sabeel, revealed that her ministry received investment requests even after the ongoing 15th of April, 2023 war.

She said: “Despite the war, we continued to receive requests for investment, which is progressing well.”

In a statement to Almohagig, the Sudanese minister denied canceling any investment projects after the war, stressing that the government seeks to attract many investments to Sudan, especially after providing many incentives, guarantees, and privileges.

She added, “The war was a greater incentive for a number of investors and was not a deterrent to attracting more national investments.”

The Minister acknowledged that investment projects in Khartoum State were affected by the war through financing or the lack of production inputs and means of movement. Still, she stressed that her ministry spares no effort in attracting investors to invest in Sudan and developing plans that keep pace with the post-war stage.

Ahlam described the investment sector as promising, which could help in reconstructing Sudan in the post-war period.

She confirmed the Ministry’s participation in several investment events, the most recent of which was the COMESA Investment Forum in the Republic of Tunisia, announcing the signing of a cooperation agreement with Tunisia in the near future.

She pointed to continuing to attract qualitative investment partnerships that would accelerate the economy and rebuild what was destroyed by the war, especially in infrastructure projects and renewable energies.
