Agar in South Africa: We disapprove of the presence of two armies in one country

Pretoria – AlMuhagig

Sudanese Sovereignty Council Vice President Malik Agar has announced the government’s rejection of the presence of two armies in the country.
This came during a meeting in Pretoria, South Africa, where Agar met with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to South Africa in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Awad, and the Sudanese Ambassador to South Africa, Ambassador Osama Mahjoub Hassan Durra, according to a statement from the Sovereignty Council.
Agar provided the ambassadors with a detailed briefing on the developments of the ongoing war in Sudan, its causes, and the political and humanitarian situations in the country resulting from it.
The Vice President of the Sovereignty Council explained that one of the reasons for the outbreak of the war was the refusal of the RSF militia to integrate into the Sudanese Armed Forces. He pointed out the proposals presented by the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces to the leadership of the RSF militia for their integration into the armed forces and the mysterious methods adopted by the militia to resist the decision.
The Vice President of the Council stressed the Sudanese government’s rejection of two armies in one country, pointing out the instability and political tension that the country has witnessed since the beginning of the transitional period.
The ambassadors were briefed on the humanitarian situations caused by the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces and the suffering of the Sudanese people due to violations against civilians, genocide against the Masalit in Darfur, targeting civilians with killing in Khartoum and Al-Jazirah, raping and kidnapping Sudanese women from Darfur and Khartoum and selling them as slaves in markets within the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur and neighbouring countries, forced displacement of citizens, occupation of their homes, and theft of their property, and other violations committed by the rebellious terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia.
Agar emphasized the openness of the Sudanese government to initiatives proposed by regional institutions, provided they do not affect Sudan’s sovereignty and unity.
He also highlighted the Sudanese government’s keenness for peace and that the official position of the Sudanese government to stop the war is embodied in the roadmap presented by the Sudanese government last June.
Agar warned of the repercussions of the support provided by some countries to the rebellious militia that seeks to build an ethnically based state on the ruins of the Sudanese state, turning Sudan into an uncontrolled spot where extremist Islamic groups, organized crime, illegal immigration, and piracy spread in the Red Sea, among other consequences.
The Vice President of the Sovereignty Council emphasized that the Sudanese government is working diligently to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Supreme Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies and the Humanitarian Aid Commission, pointing to the activation of the unified window system to enable government procedures based on the recommendations of international and United Nations organizations, among others.
Agar denied what is being circulated in the media about obstructing aid delivery, especially in the states of West, East, Central, and South Darfur, which are under the influence and responsibility of the Rapid Support Forces militia up to this moment.
Sudan’s Ambassador to South Africa, Osama Mahjoub Hassan Durra, stated in a press statement after the meeting that the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council affirmed to the group the Sudanese government’s desire and efforts to achieve peace, explaining that the Sudanese government’s position on the multiple platforms is based on its agreement with maintaining national sovereignty and security.
