Almohagig Gets New Information on the Kabashi—Al-Hilu Agreement

Informed government sources revealed that the agreement expected to be concluded soon between the Government of Sudan, the Popular Movement – North, Commander Abdul Aziz Al-Hilu’s Branch, to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the war, will be an internal agreement of principles, and that the Humanitarian Aid Commission will represent the government’s side in the agreement in terms of arrangement and drafting.

The sources who spoke to Almohagig added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, after signing the Agreement of Principles, undertake the task of facilitating the granting of permits and visas to international and regional organizations concerned with the delivery of aid, in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission, which will undertake the task, in addition to clarifying safe passages for the delivery of humanitarian convoys.

According to the sources, it is likely that the Sovereignty Council member, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabashi, will return on Monday from Juba, where he began a visit last Friday.

Meanwhile, President Salva Kiir received, on Monday, a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabbashi, for the second time during this visit. Tut Gulwak, Salva Kiir’s advisor for security affairs, said that Lieutenant General Kabbashi briefed President Salva Kiir on the government’s readiness to sign a document to deliver humanitarian aid with the SPLM-North sector.

Tut added that President Salva Kiir directed the need to expedite the signing of the document to facilitate the arrival of relief to citizens in areas under government control and in areas controlled by the movement.
