Omdurman – almohagig

A statement issued by the Khartoum State Government Secretary-General today, Sunday, stated that the High Committee for Emergencies and Crisis Management in the state, chaired by Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza, directed the operation rooms operating in the service and administrative facilities to work around the clock during the Eid holiday to ensure the smooth flow of water, electricity, health services, and address any emergencies that may arise during the holiday.

The meeting listened to the vision of the Omdurman Hospital director and his assistants regarding the operation of Omdurman Hospital.

The Director of the Health Emergency Committee, Mohamed Ibrahim, stated that the Ministry of Health has developed a comprehensive plan to improve the environment and operate the hospitals in Omdurman, starting with renovating the environment in each area of Omdurman, processing corpses, and operating hospitals at a minimum capacity.

The Head of the Health Emergency Committee revealed the operation of some public and private hospitals and health centres in the evening, announcing that all treatment facilities would operate as usual.

At the meeting, reports were also heard on the preparedness of the emergency rooms and the ongoing work to restore electricity to several liberated areas. The electricity official explained that the situation in the Umm Badah locality is almost stable. Power has been restored to Beit Almal and parts of Abu Sa’ad and Al-Salha, and work continues in the rest of the old Omdurman areas.

The official attributed the fluctuation in electricity at certain times to the line overload, resulting from open and unguided electricity use, which is widely used in homes through random connections (Jabada).

He said that the return of the prepaid electricity program will solve this problem, allowing citizens to purchase electricity from Sabireen, Al-Ashara, and Medina Al-Nile offices, gradually reducing the problem of outages until it is resolved.

Regarding drinking water, the Authority’s director explained that they have provided reserves of purification materials, operated stations and wells around the clock, and provided the needs for emergency rooms.

A comprehensive review of the mechanisms for distributing humanitarian aid was also conducted during the meeting, emphasising the importance of including all groups in the aid and ensuring the fair distribution of assistance in coordination with the donor agencies.
