Curfew Declared in Khartoum State

On Monday, the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Othman Hamza, issued Emergency Order No. 3, according to which he declared a curfew and the closure of all shops, cafes or any other activities, effective from ten o’clock in the evening until five o’clock in the morning in Khartoum State.

The decision prohibits people and vehicles from roaming in the state from eleven in the evening until five in the morning. The order comes in light of the security conditions and current conditions in the state and to preserve the lives and property of citizens.

The decision applies within the geographical borders of Khartoum State.

The decision directed the authorities of the regular forces and the prosecution to work on implementing it

The order, its enforcement, and the seizure of means of transportation suspected of violating this order until the completion of the investigation and trial phases, prohibiting and regulating the movement and activity of people, the movement of objects and means of transportation, in addition to arresting suspected persons and inspecting places suspected of violating this order.

The emergency order stipulates penalties for anyone who violates it, in addition to the penalties stipulated in any other law, with imprisonment not exceeding six months or a fine not exceeding one million pounds. In the event of repeated violation of this order, the penalty shall be doubled.
