Addressing the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu on Friday – via video technology – the African Peace and Security Council session chaired by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
The IGAD Secretary called for the necessity of coordinating peace efforts among partners and friends of Sudan to reach comprehensive peace, reiterating IGAD’s commitment to reaching peace for the Sudanese people, after more than a year of war and escalation of the conflict, stressing that there is still hope for reaching a peaceful solution.
Workneh praised the efforts made by IGAD, the African Union and international actors to facilitate a ceasefire in Sudan.
