Kabashi and Al-Hilu Agree to Deliver Aid to Government and SPLA-Controlled Areas

A statement published by the Transitional Sovereignty Council media office on Saturday said that the Sovereignty Council member and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabbashi, discussed today in Juba, with Lieutenant General Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, head of the Popular Movement-North, the Sudanese crisis, and that the two sides exchanged visions about solutions to the humanitarian file. Delivering aid to South Kordofan State residents and discussing a political solution to the situation.

The two parties, recognizing the urgency of the situation, agreed to facilitate the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid in areas controlled by the government and in areas controlled by the movement, with each party concerned with its areas of control.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to the cause by agreeing to hold a meeting within a week for a delegation from the Government of Sudan and a delegation from the Popular Movement-North to sign a document on humanitarian operations in the Nuba Mountains and southern Blue Nile regions.

Tut Gulwak, President Salva Kiir’s advisor for security affairs, stated that the head of the SPLM-N, Abdul Aziz al-Hilu, confirmed his readiness to receive any popular delegations to discuss solutions to the crisis in all of Sudan.

He added that the meeting dealt with resolving the crisis in Sudan and the humanitarian file. It was agreed on the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid in areas controlled by the government and in areas controlled by the Popular Movement in the two regions, provided that a delegation would meet within a week to approve a document specifying how to deliver aid.
