Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, today headed to Juba, the Republic of South Sudan capital, on an official visit that will last several days.
During the visit, the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council will meet with President Salva Kiir Mayardit to discuss common issues and ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, according to a statement issued by the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media office.
This marks the fourth time Agar has visited Juba since the outbreak of the war in Sudan due to the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces.
Recent videos broadcast on social media have shown mercenaries from South Sudan fighting alongside militias against the Sudanese army. Still, President Salva Kiir’s government sources denied any connection to those fighters.
Juba had announced that it was making efforts to mediate between the various Sudanese parties to manage a Sudanese dialogue that would end the war in Sudan.
