The Minister in-charge of Industry, Mahasen Ali Yaqoub, acknowledged the difficulty of estimating the true size of the industrial sector’s losses due to the war at the present time.

The Minister conditioned the matter on conducting a field survey on the ground to estimate the extent of the actual losses, describing the destruction to which the factories were subjected to the systematic destruction of factories and infrastructure, especially Khartoum State, which contains a large industrial base.

The Sudanese minister said in a statement to Almohagig: “The Ministry has statistical data for existing industries of various types and their classification in terms of the size of establishments, and based on that, the loss to the industrial sector is estimated, but the actual loss does not come until after conducting a field survey on the ground.”

Ms. Mahasen revealed a government plan for the reconstruction phase, including all productive and service sectors and other centers, facilities and institutions, the most important of which is the industrial sector.

She pointed to an emergency plan by the Ministry to operate the factories that have been stopped in the safe states and attract industries in the states, especially the food, pharmaceutical and other light industries, with a focus on providing basic infrastructure in this exceptional stage.
