Minister of Trade: New Banking Arrangements with Egypt

The Minister of Trade, Elfaih Abdullah Youssef, disclosed an agreement with the Egyptian side to open branches of several Sudanese banks in Cairo, including a branch of the Bank of Khartoum, to facilitate trade between the two countries.
The Sudanese Minister of Trade met with his Egyptian counterpart during his current visit to Cairo. The Minister said in press statements at the residence of the Sudanese ambassador in the Maadi suburb of Cairo that an agreement had been reached between the Sudanese and Egyptian sides to activate the trade protocol between the two countries.
He added, ‘There is out-of-the-box thinking about establishing a portfolio of commercial goods between Egypt and Sudan based on the system of equivalent goods after discussing the matter between the central banks.’ The Minister clarified that arrangements had been made to facilitate the entry and exit of businessmen between the two countries, promising to overcome all problems and obstacles, adding: ‘We agreed to develop and increase trade exchange between the two countries and invite businessmen to a brainstorming meeting in the presence of the ministers to adopt appropriate policies that contribute to increasing trade exchange.
