The National Medicines and Poisons Council, affiliated with the Federal Ministry of Health, said that the Rapid Support Militia targeted the Council’s branch in El-Fasher in North Darfur State, causing the collapse of the branch buildings.
In a press statement today, Sunday, the Council condemned the targeting of civilian sites and health service institutions by the Rapid Support Militia, which endangered the lives of workers in those institutions and negatively affected their ability to provide services to citizens.
The Rapid Support Militia had destroyed a number of hospitals in El-Fasher by bombing and direct assault, the last of which was the Saudi Maternity Hospital, and assaulted the medical staff working in it.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, and Doctors Without Borders had previously condemned the horrific attacks on health facilities in El-Fasher and called on the Rapid Support Militia to stop doing so.
