The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Lieutenant General Salva Kiir Mayardit, received, at the Presidential Palace in Juba, on Friday, the Transitional Sovereignty Council member and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabashi, accompanied by Major General Yassin Ibrahim, the Sudanese Minister of Defense.
President Salva Kiir’s advisor for security affairs, Tut Qalwak, said in a press statement following the interview that the meeting discussed ways to bring peace to Sudan as soon as possible after the great destruction caused by the war, according to what was stated in a circular published by the media of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.
Tut added that the meeting touched on the issue of delivering humanitarian aid, stressing the readiness of the Republic of South Sudan to deliver relief to all Sudanese who took refuge in South Sudan due to the war.
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces headed to Juba this morning from the temporary capital, Port Sudan.
