Senior Government Source to AlMohagig: There is No Reduction in Diplomatic Missions Abroad

A senior government source revealed to AlMohagig the inaccuracy of the information circulating regarding reducing the number of Sudanese diplomatic missions abroad, indicating that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has fully implemented the following directives of the Sovereign Council regarding reducing diplomatic missions since October of last year.

The source confirmed that the sovereign directive for the reduction is intended to reduce spending on external work in line with the nature of the current stage that the Sudanese economy is going through, and the state of war that the country is experiencing, and the requirements for spending on it.

The source indicated that the meeting that took place yesterday in Port Sudan and included the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Interior, was intended to make the necessary arrangements to implement the latest reduction operations related to police offices attached to Sudanese embassies and missions abroad, pointing out that all ministries and government agencies that have extensions in Sudan’s embassies abroad and its missions through offices attached to embassies have been reduced in accordance with the same directive, adding that about ten offices affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in foreign embassies will be subject to the reduction directive during the coming period.
