Port-Sudan – Al-Muhagig

Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr Mohi Eldin Na’im Mohammed Saeed, revealed the offering of six oil blocks ready for investment as part of investment opportunities and the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the war in the oil and electricity sectors.

The minister emphasised the importance of benefiting from similar experiences around the world.

This came during his meeting with a delegation from the German group for services and consultations, headed by Professor Hans Renke, the group’s chief consultant. The meeting discussed the possibility of cooperation between the ministry and the group in the oil and electricity sectors.

Na’im stated, ‘We have several available investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector, including four oil blocks in the Red Sea within territorial waters and two other blocks in Al Jazirah State, all ready for investment and with discovered oil reserves.’

He added, ‘In addition to that, there is the new Port Sudan refinery project.’

The Sudanese minister emphasised the need to rehabilitate the Um Dabakir power station in central Sudan and develop several other electricity generation stations, noting that the damage and theft that the electricity and oil sectors have been subjected to are significant.

On his part, the head of the German delegation, Professor Hans Renke, presented the German group’s vision for reconstruction in Sudan and the disposal of war remnants, benefiting from the German experience in reconstructing what was destroyed by the World War in Germany.

Through organising the Sudanese-German Investment Forum, we will gather German companies that have expressed interest in working in Sudan.’

Hussein added, ‘Our visit to Sudan came in response to an invitation from the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, the head of the Reconstruction and Compensation Council.
