The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority (SSMA) promised gum Arabic exporters to revise the new fees imposed on exporters within 72 hours.

The head of the Arab Gum Exporters Division, Ahmed Al-Tayeb Al-Anan, revealed that a meeting was held today between the division and the SSMA to review the new fees.

Al-Anan explained to “almohagig” that the meeting discussed the conditions faced by gum Arabic exporters due to the production being in less secure areas, which increases the cost burden.

He pointed out that the most smuggled commodity of gum Arabic is due to the high fees imposed on it, noting that the longest processing chain for exports is for gum Arabic exporters.

Al-Anan appreciated the understanding of the SSMA for the Division’s calls, revealing that the Division has submitted a proposal for solutions that include suggestions that benefit both exporters and SSMA.
