Sudan and Algeria: Against the “Forces of Evil”

On an official two-day visit, the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, carried Sudanese and regional affairs files to the sister country of Algeria, to hold private talks about developments on the African continent.
Al-Burhan, who was accompanied on the visit by Foreign Minister Ali Al-Sadiq and the Director-General of the General Intelligence Service, Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, laid a wreath at the shrine of the martyr as a tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the Algerian revolution, following talks with the President of the Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Algerian television said that the talks between Al-Burhan and Tebboune were “one-off,” as part of a two-day official visit to Algeria.
Algeria’s official television added: “The talks, which took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, were then expanded to include the delegations of the two countries. Before that, the President of the Republic granted the guest of Algeria an official reception at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.”
For its part, a statement by the Sudanese Sovereignty Council said: “Today, Sudan and Algeria held a joint discussion session, where the Sudanese side was headed by the President of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, while the Algerian side was headed by the President of the Algerian Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
At the beginning of the discussions session, Lieutenant General Al-Burhan greeted the Algerian President and the people of Algeria for their warm reception and generous hospitality, praising Algeria’s support for Sudanese issues in regional and international forums.
Pointing to Algeria’s history of supporting peoples, he said that the discussions touched on a number of important issues and interests that concern both countries.
Al-Burhan congratulated the Algerian President on his country’s membership in the UN Security Council and added that he saw a great understanding from the Algerian side of the situation in Sudan.
Al-Burhan welcomed the Algerian role in any regional or international initiative to address the Sudanese crisis.
Al-Burhan said that his country “is exposed to a conspiracy with the complicity of regional and international partners (he did not specify them).”
For his part, the Algerian President welcomed the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and his accompanying delegation to their second country, Algeria, indicating that the Algerian-Sudanese relations are strong historical relations.
He said that his country will stand by Sudan in order to address its problems, pointing to Sudan’s pivotal role in the African continent.
Stressing the need to resolve disputes peacefully without external interference.
He added that he is confident that Sudan will overcome this current crisis and emerge from it stronger, indicating that his country, through its presence in the Security Council, will make every effort to resolve Sudan’s issues.
He continued: “Algeria stands alongside Sudan to overcome the difficult circumstances and the evil forces targeting the country (he did not specify it).”
