Sudan Demands the ISC to Hold an Urgent Session to Discuss the UAE Aggression

New York – almohagig

Sudan has called on the UN Security Council to hold an urgent session to discuss the UAE’s aggression against Sudan.

The Permanent Mission of Sudan in New York informed the International Security Council (ISC) in a letter – a copy of which Almohagig received – that it placed on the Council’s table in response to the UAE’s letter denying its support for Rapid Support forces. The letter says that the UAE’s support for the militia makes it a partner in its war and the atrocities it committed against Sudan and Sudanese citizens, which entails international responsibility in accordance with the provisions of international law.

Sudan considered the UAE’s aggressive behaviour a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, the League of Arab States, and the United Nations resolutions on Darfur, especially Law 1591.
After the urgent session, Sudan urged the Council to hold the UAE legally and criminally accountable for the crimes committed by the militia against the State and citizens. The letter pinpointed the crimes committed by the militia, particularly the attack on State headquarters and the alliance with foreign elements.

The RSF violations include taking hostages, destroying civilian aircraft, storming civilian objects, plundering citizens’ property, stealing cars and banks, targeting service centres, attacking safe cities, assaulting mission headquarters, arbitrary arrest of citizens, where there are about 8,000 detainees in detention and forced disappearance centres, rape and ethnic genocide, forced displacement, obstructing the harvest of the agricultural season and liquidating prisoners of war.
