Sudan Embassy in Cairo: Al Burhan to Hold Talks with Egyptian Officials today

Cairo – Al-Mohagig

In a press release today, Sudan Embassy in Cairo stated that His Excellency General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, arrived in Cairo today on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, during which he will hold official talks with his brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and senior Egyptian officials.

Ambassador Mohamed Abdullah Ali El-Tom, Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo, explained that the talks will focus on the developments of the internal situation in Sudan in light of the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, the state’s efforts to confront it, and the war it is waging against the state, as well as the crimes and atrocities it is committing against civilians and citizens.

The visit will also discuss ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations between the two countries and discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest. The ambassador added that the visit comes in the context of the ongoing communication between the leaderships of the two countries and their keenness to continue consultations and discussions on all matters of interest to the two sisterly countries, considering the distinguished bilateral relations and the common bonds of blood, geography, and history between the Sudanese and Egyptian peoples.

He added that this specificity is confirmed by the warmth and good reception received by the Sudanese who recently visited Egypt. Ambassador Mohamed El-Tom pointed out that the visit also confirms the importance attached by Sudan to its relations with sisterly Egypt and its keenness to develop them in all areas of bilateral cooperation, given the strategic and security depth Egypt represents for the country, with its regional and international weight, as well as its efforts to restore stability and security in Sudan, considering that it is one of the countries most affected by what is happening in Sudan and has a real interest in its stability and security. He added that it is known that sisterly Egypt, based on this understanding, led, organised, and hosted the first summit of neighbouring countries in July last year and the mechanisms that resulted from it addressing the crisis in Sudan.
