The Acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, participated in the 77th World Health Organization General Assembly meeting at its headquarters in Geneva, in the presence of more than 180 countries.

The Minister of Health revealed that the primary purpose of the participation is to present the health situation in Sudan, the health and humanitarian needs of the international community, organizations and United Nations agencies, and what the Sudanese people are suffering as a result of the war.

The Minister also held some meetings with the directors of the World Health Organization, the Global Support Fund for Vaccines (GAVI), the Global Support Fund and many supporting bodies, in addition to meetings with his counterparts from some participating countries.

The Director of the General Department of International Health, Dr. Alaa Al-Tayeb, while presenting the basic statement of the State of Sudan at the meeting, presented the health and humanitarian situation that the country is going through as a result of the war, and the role played by the Government of Sudan and the Ministry in health work and its continuity.

Alaa demonstrated the great role of coordination with the international and regional community to deliver health aid and ensure the provision of health services to citizens, especially mothers and children, in the states of Sudan, including areas controlled by the Rapid Support militias.

Alaa revealed the gap and the great need to provide support and assistance to citizens at this stage, especially since Sudan is witnessing a number of epidemics in light of the lack of medical and health supplies, and the lack of basic life needs, stressing the importance of rebuilding basic health institutions and the need for health organizations and international agencies to work by supporting the system of basic health care in the country.
