The Saudi Foreign Ministry welcomes the Security Council’s Decision

Almohagig – Agencies

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed yesterday the decision of the UN Security Council calling for a ceasefire in Sudan during the month of Ramadan.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry urged the army and the Rapid Support Forces rebels to adhere to the Jeddah Agreement signed between them in May of last year.

The UN Security Council adopted yesterday a non-binding resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan before Ramadan. The resolution was supported by 14 countries, while Russia abstained from voting.

The Russian deputy representative to the Security Council indirectly criticized the Rapid Support Forces rebels for the first time, considering that they should prioritize the higher interests of Sudan over narrow interests.
