Transitional Sovereignty Council President Meets with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Monday with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khereiji, who arrived in the country on an official visit.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Awad, said in a press statement that the discussions addressed the call to resume the Jeddah Platform, adding that the President of the Sovereign Council stressed Sudan’s keenness to make the Jeddah Platform a success, considering it a foundation upon which to build.

Stressing the necessity of implementing what was agreed upon in May 2023, he said that the meeting also discussed the importance of expanding the base of facilitators in the Jeddah negotiations, indicating that the President of the Sovereignty Council expressed his reservations about the presence of any party supporting the rebel militia.

The President of the Sovereignty Council expressed his thanks and appreciation for the positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of the security and stability of Sudan, noting the fraternal relations that bind the two brotherly peoples.

The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs explained that the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed to the President of the Sovereignty Council the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, indicating that the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed during the meeting the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the security and stability of Sudan and its unlimited support for it, given that the stability of Sudan It has a direct impact on the security and stability of the region, indicating the huge resources that Sudan has in various fields.
